Why we built this

My wife and I collect anime figures. We've made multiple trips to Japan together, wandering through shops in Akihabara and Den Den Town, and every single time we end up standing in an aisle squinting at a Google Sheet on our phones trying to figure out if we already own something or if it's worth the price. It's not a great look.

We tried the tools that exist. They feel like they haven't been updated since 2008. Clunky interfaces, no mobile experience, no way to quickly check what you own while you're actually out shopping. We wanted something that feels like a modern app, not a database from the early internet. Something where you can see your collection's value at a glance, keep track of pre-orders, and not accidentally buy the same Nendoroid twice (yes, that happened).

So we made it ourselves. kurotana is the tool we wished existed when we started collecting. If you're the kind of person who gets excited about a new scale figure announcement or rearranges your detolf on a Saturday night, this is for you.
