kurotana.gg ("we", "us", "our") is a platform for anime figure and manga collectors. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the data we handle. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Data Stored Locally in Your Browser

During the current phase of development, your collection data, preferences, and settings are stored entirely in your browser's localStorage. This means the data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it. Locally stored data includes:

  • Your figure and manga collection (items, statuses, notes)
  • Currency preference (JPY, USD, or AUD)
  • Cached exchange rates
  • Theme preference (dark/light)
  • Onboarding and feature tour state

1.2 Analytics Data

We use Umami for website analytics, which is a cookie-free, privacy-focused analytics tool. Umami does not collect personally identifiable information, does not use cookies, and does not track users across websites. It collects aggregate data such as page views, referral sources, browser type, and country of origin.

We may also use Microsoft Clarity for session replay and heatmap analysis to improve user experience. Clarity uses cookies to identify sessions and may collect data such as mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior. No passwords or sensitive input fields are recorded. You can opt out of Clarity tracking via your browser's cookie settings.

1.3 Future Data Collection

As kurotana.gg evolves, we plan to introduce user accounts and additional features that will involve server-side data storage. When these features launch, we will update this policy and notify you. Future data collection may include:

  • Account information: email address, display name, and avatar via OAuth login (Google, Discord)
  • Collection data: your figure and manga collection will be synced to our servers for cross-device access
  • Payment information: processed securely by Stripe for premium subscriptions. We never store your card details on our servers.
  • Profile data: public profile information you choose to share (bio, social links, showcase items)

2. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

  • Provide and maintain the kurotana.gg platform
  • Improve user experience through analytics and session replay
  • Process payments for premium features (future)
  • Send important service updates and notifications (future)
  • Detect and prevent abuse or violations of our Terms of Service

3. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared only with:

  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), hosting providers (DigitalOcean), and analytics tools (Umami, Clarity) that process data on our behalf
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process

4. Cookies

Our primary analytics tool (Umami) does not use cookies. Microsoft Clarity uses first-party cookies for session identification. We do not use any third-party advertising cookies. When user accounts are introduced, we will use session cookies for authentication.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: your collection data is stored locally and fully accessible to you at all times
  • Export your data: use the built-in export feature to download your collection as a JSON file
  • Delete your data: clear your browser's localStorage to remove all locally stored data, or use your browser's developer tools to remove specific keys
  • Opt out of analytics: use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin, or disable cookies to prevent Clarity tracking

When server-side accounts are introduced, you will be able to request a full export or deletion of your account data by contacting us.

6. Data Security

Currently, your data resides entirely in your browser's localStorage and is not transmitted to our servers. When server-side storage is introduced, we will implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, and regular security audits.

7. Children's Privacy

kurotana.gg is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users through the platform and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of kurotana.gg after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
